Singapore Telecom has installed an AT&T 5ESS digital public telephone exchange to handle all voice and data communications with other countries, and the phone company proudly claims that customers will now get access to lots of new services including toll-free calling from the US – it is offering US firms AT&T’s International 800 Service so their customers, suppliers or employees to place toll-free calls from Singapore. The Singapore Telecom gateway switch also uses AT&T’s International Operator Services Position system, which embraces Integrated Services Digital Network services technology. The Number 5ESS gateway switch is the first of two planned: the other goes live early next year.
