Another of the new wave of Singapore start-up internet technology companies has announced plans for both rapid international expansion and a listing on Nasdaq. EBIZ Solutions was set up last year by two local technopreneurs to offer cutting-edge electronic commerce products to the financial sector, and has already seen its software installed by several major financial institutions claims managing director Pamela Lim.

EBIZ software enables online financial transactions such as stock and foreign exchange trading from PCs, mobile phone handsets and other handheld devices. It is already being used by the Asian operation of Citibank, which is now looking to extend the system to its worldwide network, Lim said. The local offices of three multinational stockbrokers are also said to be basing internet trading systems on EBIZ.

At present the company only has offices in Singapore and Malaysia, but it is looking to open branches in the world’s top financial centers, including London, Hong Kong, the US and Tokyo, within a year. Our systems enable people to do online transactions across borders internationally, which is what the internet is about. It doesn’t make sense to stay in Singapore, said Lim.
