Simware Ltd, based in Bracknell, Berkshire, is to announce its first mobile data product at the Mobile Data Event 1993: it is being supplied in partnership with RAM Mobile Data Inc and France Telecom’s Transpac Network Services (over whose X25 networks it is intended for use) and it is claimed to give mobile personal computer users access to the corporate mainframe using packet data wireless communications. Called SplitSecond RF, it is claimed to reduce the amount of data transmitted between the server application and the client personal computer by up to 95%. The company says that it does this by assessing during the course of a session which screens are likely to be re-used, and detecting and eliminating patterns of redundant data. No pricing information was available at the time of going to press.
