Canadian software vendor Simware Inc has transformed the portal integration part of its web application development framework and into a stand-alone product for OEM deals with companies offering portal construction services.

SalvoLink 1.0 is the integration layer that connects companies’ data sources with the portals that relay the information to employees. It is component-based, written in Jscript, Pure Java, VbScript and RexxScript. The component structure makes it easier and faster for multiple users to access, Simware claims. The Ottawa, Canada-based firm is speaking to several potenital OEM partners, expecting to announce deals before the end of the year. Although the company was coy about names, Intraspect Software Inc, Viador Inc and Plumtree Inc are likely contenders.

Simware was acquired by NetManage Inc last month, and the deal is due to be completed on October 29. The company will operate as a separate subsidiary, although it is considering a name change to reflect its e-commerce interests.
