Silicon Compilers Inc of San Jose, California has agreed to acquire Silicon Design Labs of Liberty Corner, New Jersey and change the name of the combined company to Silicon Compiler Systems Corp. Silicon Compilers Inc, founded in 1981, pioneered silicon compilation technology, providing engineers with design automation systems for very large-scale integration circuit design, and claims to be the market leader. Silicon Design Labs, founded in 1983, provides a set of tools to build compilers, and developed L, an emerging standard compilaton development language. Silicon Compilers says that the combined growth rate of the two companies was 130% in 1986, and that both have now attained profitability. The new company will be headquartered in San Jose but an engineering, sales and support centre will be maintained in Liberty Corner. Financial details of the merger were not disclosed.
