Under the agreement, Sify is expected to offer a hosted mobile e-mail and synchronization service based on Synchronica Mobile Gateway to enterprises and consumers in India.
According to Synchronica, Sify has chosen its Mobile Gateway because it works on the vast majority of devices in use currently, and consequently has a much larger addressable market than other mobile e-mail services, which require users to upgrade to expensive high-end smartphones. Mobile Gateway does not require additional software to be installed on the handset making it particularly well suited for businesses, consumers and prosumers in emerging markets, the company added.
Carsten Brinkschulte, CEO of Synchronica, said: The agreement is a key contract win in India and corroborates our decision to focus on emerging markets. We believe we have a winning combination for service providers in these regions because our scalable, secure software works on mass-market handsets and is ideal for both business users and consumers.
