3Com Corp’s Palm Pilot personal digital assistant is quite a hot item – more than 350,000 had been sold by the end of 1996 – and has already attracted the development of dozens of applications specifically for the pocket-sized organizer. Now Sierra On-Line Inc, Bellevue, Washington-based developer of interactive entertainment and educational software, says it is offering the first comprehensive software suite for the PalmPilot. The package contains 27 applications including productivity and organizational aids, language translation and games. Everything from a music synthesizer and scientific calculator to golf and bowling scorecards is to be found on one CD-ROM for Windows 95. The product is available now with a street price of $30 and with the Pilot outselling Windows CE-based machines by a large margin (CI No 3,100), there are sure to be more software suites to come.
