The Public Communication Networks Group of Siemens AG has won yet another contract in Malaysia. This time the company will deliver $67.3m worth of GSM Groupe Speciale Mobile transmission equipment, beginning with the first installation in this year. The equipment will increase the coverage of the cellular network from 330,000 to more than one million subscribers over the next two years. The contract follows two other Siemens’ inroads into the region. The private telecoms operator Mutiara Telecommunications ordered Siemens equipment for 200,000 digital connections in July. In August, Siemens won a contract from Celcom to deliver a turnkey solution for one million digital telephone connections over the next five years.
