SIEMENS TO TAKE STC’s PDMX UNDER OEM CONTRACT

By CBR Staff Writer

STC Plc has won an OEM agreement to supply its year-old programmable digital multiplexer, PDMX, to Siemens AG of Munich, West Germany. The companies are giving no value on the deal so far because neither is sure how big it will turn out to be. STC claims that PDMX has no competitor at the moment. The product is user-programmable so that much of the intelligence that is normally held in the public exchange is drawn into the transmission path. The transmission system can then be configured to accept different types of traffic. STC is also expecting a decision from the Chinese Ministry of Communications factory in Shanghai, currently evaluating the PDMX and other STC transmission kit for manufacture.
