Siemens has expanded its strategic relationship with Business software maker SAP through its selection of SAP Supplier Relationship Management (SAP SRM) application for its worldwide e-procurement operations. It also renewed maintenance support services for all SAP offerings for a duration of three years.

According to SAP, its Supplier Relationship Management will allow Siemens to extend the value of its current investment in SAP Business Suite software with an integrated offering for automating goods and services procure-to-pay processes for indirect material. It also helps to reduce procurement costs, build collaborative supplier relationships and better manage supply bases.

In addition to the selection of SAP SRM, Siemens also renewed its service relationship with SAP for global maintenance support for all SAP offerings. Siemens also requested SAP assume support for some of Siemens’ in-house developed offerings that connect to SAP offerings and has extended its service relationship to include SAP MaxAttention support, an option that provides onsite intensive customised support services.

Erwin Gunst, chief operating officer of SAP, said: “Siemens and SAP enjoy a long-standing business relationship in which Siemens is one of SAP’s premier customers, and we are pleased to be able to continue providing complete systems service and support to Siemens’ global organisation.

“Coupling its maintenance support renewal with selection of our SRM solution is a clear indication that Siemens trusts in the ability of SAP to provide global services for its enterprises. SAP has been, and will continue to be, a strong strategic supplier to Siemens.”
