Siemens Nixdorf India (SNI) is likely to enter into a strategic alliance with the Karnataka State Electronics Development Corporation (KEONICS), a state government undertaking which promotes the development of electronics and information technology industries in the southern state of Karnataka in India. KEONICS will market Siemens Nixdorf PCs on an exclusive basis to the government and public sector market in Karnataka. KEONICS has been trying to build up a high profile since Microsoft Corp announced its plans to set up a software development center in Hyderabad in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Siemens Nixdorf, which has been in India for the past couple of years, has been keeping a low profile compared to other MNC vendors like Compaq Computer Corp, IBM Corp, Hewlett-Packard Co and Digital. But since the first quarter of this financial year, SNI has launched aggressive campaigns for their Scenic D Pro PC range and sold nearly 3,000 PCs.
