SIEMENS NIXDORF SWITCHES X STATION HORSES, ALLIES WITH TEKTRONIX

By CBR Staff Writer

It looks as if Siemens Nixdorf Informationssysteme AG has grown disenchanted with the X terminal offerings from its early partner Network Computing Devices Inc: Tektronix Inc, Wilsonville, Oregon yesterday announced that Siemens Nixdorf, with sales and service locations in over 45 countries, has decided to adopt Tektronix as its preferred supplier of X terminals for the European market. The agreement is intended to enable both to respond more effectively to growing European demand for high-end X terminals in the banking and finance, government, and transport sectors. Trektronix says it often find itself working closely with Siemens Nixdorf at customer sites and the agreement formalises the past relationship and paves the way for future arrangements between the two companies. Siemens Nixdorf will be offering all Tektronix’s X terminal products, including its new multimedia X server software, XpressWare 7.0.
