Siemens-Nixdorf Information Systems Ltd’s new marketing wheeze consists of offering pan-European organisations its 80386SX-based notebook in packs of 10; also, the company is providing a field support scheme which guarantees that if a machine needs servicing, there will be immediate fault diagnosis and a replacement notebook within two hours; discounts are available for the PCD-3Nsx/16, a 16MHz unit with 1Mb of memory and a 40Mb hard disk, and the PCD-3Nsx/20 with a 20MHz clock, 2Mb of memory and a 60Mb hard disk – 10 PCD-3Nsx/16 machines are being offered at UKP15,000, compared with UKP2,800 for a single unit and 10 PCD-3Nsx/20s cost UKP18,000, a dramatic improvement on UKP3,200 for one; they come with MS-DOS 5.0.
