Siemens AG says that group sales and incoming orders at loss-making Siemens Nixdorf Informationssysteme AG rose some 4% to the equivalent of some $1,600m in the first quarter of the current fiscal year to September, but chief financial officer Karl-Hermann Baumann said he did not expect major improvements in the results of the computer company in the current year last fiscal, Siemens Nixdorf reduced its loss to $317m from $482m – saying that attempts to improve the profitability were counteracted by continuing product price attrition; the company will continue to show high extraordinary losses this year from continuing downsizing of the company – most of the planned job reductions of 6,000 will be made this year, leaving it with 42,500.
