In the second fiscal quarter Siemens’ sales climbed by 8% and new orders grew by 17%. However, these seemingly good results in such a troubled market have not reassured Seimens of its prospects for the rest of the year. It has refused to release its expectations for the second half of the year and announced that it is to cut jobs, 2,600 from the mobile-handset division and 3,500 from the network operations.

Despite reporting second fiscal quarter growth, Siemens is set to axe 6,100 jobs in its mobile handset and network operations divisions.
