Siemens provides integration with Microsoft’s NAP through the Open Services Framework introduced as part of HiPath Wireless Manager.
NAP is a policy enforcement technology built into the Windows Vista and forthcoming Windows Server Longhorn operating systems that enables customers to better protect network assets from unhealthy computers by enforcing compliance with security policies.
The client side of the technology will be publicly available with Windows Vista, and on the server will be available to testers with Beta 2 of Longhorn.
Integrating HiPath Wireless Manager with NAP platform means IT managers can avoid duplicating their network security infrastructure for wireless users, Siemens Enterprise Communications said.
Instead, NAP provides a single administration interface to manage corporate security policies and help prevent wireless security breaches. It can also quarantine users to reduce risk from viruses that can cause downtime and allows network managers to use NAP as a common interface to control wireless and wired LAN access.
