Together with three other R&D centers, located in Germany, Belgium and Poland, Brazil will take part in a project to develop software for set-top boxes that will utilize DVB, IPTV and hybrid technologies to create a multifunctional media application.

Brazil’s adoption of the global DVB standard as the national transmission system will allow the Development Center for Digital TV not only to create software aimed at the Brazilian market, but also provide client and consumer support.

The local development of software for the set-top-box will bring advantages in several spheres, explained Germano Ramlow, head of Siemens Home and Office Communication Devices in Brazil.

It is an important opportunity to include Brazil in the global development chain of promising technologies as digital TV transmissions open new export markets and further enhance Brazil’s expert qualifications.
