Mr. von Pierer went on to say that he believed that there would be a slight growth in the sales of mobile telephones this year, with sales of handsets expected to reach over 400 million units. Siemens is currently the world’s number three mobile telephone handset manufacturer behind Nokia and Motorola.
Siemens CEO predicts gloomy outlook for telecoms sector
The chief executive officer of Siemens, Heinrich von Pierer, has said in an interview with a newspaper that he does not expect a significant recovery in investment levels in the telecommunications sector for at least the next 18 months. The Siemens chief stated that he expects investment in telecommunications infrastructure in particular to struggle this year.
