Siemens has launched a new product line of particularly compact and energy-saving industrial PCs (IPCs) in the nano-format.
The product line starts with two designs: compact Nanobox PCs and Nanopanel PCs. Both the Simatic IPC227D Nanobox PCs and the Simatic HMI IPC277D Nanopanel PCs run on new Intel Atom processors.
The Atom processors offer high-speed data processing and communication with low heat dissipation and a power consumption starting at eight Watts.
The devices have high resistance to heat, vibration and shock and have an integral 24 Volt industrial power supply unit, said the company.
The basic configuration of the Nanobox PC is maintenance-free because of its dustproof enclosure and the absence of battery, fan or hard disk.
The devices are suitable for simple control, visualisation and communication tasks. They can also be used as data loggers in areas such as traffic control, marine applications and energy transmission.
The Simatic HMI IPC277D Nanopanel PC is available with 7-inch, 9-inch and 12-inch high-resolution industrial touch displays in widescreen format. The LED backlighting is dimmable up to 100% for reduced power consumption.
All versions of the IPC227D are equipped with four USB-2.0 ports, while the HMI IPC277D has at least three. Both devices have two Gigabit-Ethernet ports with teaming capability.
The IPCs can be configured online.
