Both companies are calling this a long term and multi-faceted partnership since it also lets Siebel deploy FAST’s search technology internally. Officials at San Mateo, California-based Siebel say the company plans to incorporate FAST into several of its internal IT deployments later this year.

FAST only recently debuted its InStream software to beef up its infant OEM business. The company says OEM deals currently account for 5% of its revenue. FAST hopes that by signing deals with the likes of Siebel, Computer Associates and EMC Centra it can at least double that figure this year.

FAST is battling it out for second spot in the enterprise search market with Autonomy. A recent glance at quarterly run-rates shows that FAST pulled clear of Autonomy for the second quarter in a row – pulling in $20.4m for its fourth quarter, compared to Autonomy’s $18.6m. But Verity still leads by some way – reporting revenues up 11% to $33.9m in its last (third) quarter.
