ShoreTel, a provider of IP phone systems with fully integrated unified communications (UC), and Polycom, a provider of unified communications, have expanded their technology partnership to deliver advanced business communications systems based on open standards.

The combined offering will provide customers the flexibility of an open and interoperable ShoreTel and Polycom offering that unifies and simplifies communication across voice and video and telepresence offerings including the Polycom UC Intelligent Core, and messaging applications.

ShoreTel’s IP telephony and UC offering will combine with Polycom’s telepresence systems to deliver customers an integrated system that uses technologies like H.264 High Profile, which reduces bandwidth requirements for high definition video, said the company.

ShoreTel business development vice-president Mark Arman said the company’s long-standing commitment to standards-based technologies and open-architected systems gives their customers maximum flexibility to deploy custom offerings that suit their specific business needs.

"We are pleased to partner with Polycom and ensure our customers achieve truly interoperable, scalable and brilliantly simple visual communication offerings," Arman said.
