Financially-troubled internet retailer Shopping.com has named Frank Denny as president and chief executive officer, making him the third CEO in the last seven months. Denny takes over for John Markley, who replaced company founder Robert McNulty back in June. In addition, James Chamberlain has been appointed chief financial officer, replacing Kristine Webster. The company also named Randall Reed chairman of the board, replacing Denny in that role. Reed’s appointment is noteworthy in that he was formerly chief financial officer at packaging giant Stone Container Corp – indicating that the new executive team is ready to focus entirely on overhauling the company financially. That will take a fair amount of work, as a recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, revealed a third-quarter loss of $5.7m on sales of $2m, as the company continues selling products at or below cost in an effort to gain market share.
