SHIN-ETSU INVESTS ú160m MORE IN LIVINGSTON

With all the chipmakers in the Scottish Silicon Glen, demand for wafers is insatiable, and so the Shin-Etsu Handotai Co Ltd arm of Shin-Etsu Chemical Co Ltd is expanding its Livingston plant again – and by much more than it did last year, to move to 8 from 6 wafers. It is now investing ú160m and will create around 235 jobs, taking Japanese investment in the new town near Edinburgh to ú1,000m.
