Gremlin Interactive Ltd, the Sheffield, UK-based computer games company has signed a four-year consultancy deal with Newcastle United and England soccer player Alan Shearer who will advise the company on its Actua Soccer 2 game, according to the Times. Whatever the terms of the deal, it must have been a bargain compared to the $15m pounds Newcastle shelled out for Shearer. Gremlin will become the first UK game company to achieve a full stock exchange listing when it floats this month in a bid to raise between 45m pounds and 55m pounds to double the number of games it releases every year (CI No 3,173).
