SHARP TO BRING OUT PC TO THE AX 16-BIT MS-DOS STANDARD

By CBR Staff Writer

Sharp Corp will bring out a personal computer to the AX 16-bit MS-DOS standard in May, to compete with the PC-9801 series machines from NEC Corp: Sharp is playing catch-up, because it was once the market leader with the MZ machine launched back in 1978, but was overtaken in around 1983 by NEC with the 9801; it tried to market a 9801-compatible 2861, but was hit by copyright infringement complaints.
