SHARP DEVELOPS A JAPANESE-LANGUAGE NATURAL LANGUAGE PROCESSOR

By CBR Staff Writer

Sharp Corp says it has developed a Japanese-language natural language processor for database retrieval and update: the program is written in C, uses a word processor as the user interface and has a 300-rule grammar processor which translates inquiries into SQL, with the ability to handle Japanese phonetics and fuzzy queries; it will be packaged for sale by mid-1987, but the distribution method and price have not yet been set.
