SHARP AND FUJITSU SETTLE WITH TEXAS INSTRUMENTS

Two of the eight Japanese and South Korean companies sued by Texas Instruments over alleged patent infringement on memory chip designs, Sharp Corp and Fujitsu Ltd, have settled with the company, agreeing to pay undisclosed fixed royalties plus a royalty on each part sold in the US between now and 1990; cases against Hitachi Ltd, Mitsubishi Electric Corp, Oki Electric Co, Matsushita Electric Industrial Co, NEC Corp, Toshiba Corp and Samsung Co are proceeding.
