CompuServe Corp is now a stand-alone company: the Columbus, Ohio on-line service operator got its offer of 16m shares, 20% of the equity, away at $30 a share, valuing it at $2,400m, and parent H&R Block Inc plans to distribute the other 80% of the equity pro rata to its shareholders within a year. Underwriter for the issue was Goldman Sachs & Co.

Vodafone Group Plc announced Friday it is setting up a 500m British pound multi-currency Euro-commercial paper program. Dealers for the program, proceeds of which will be used for general corporate purposes, are Barclays de Zoete Wedd Securities, Citibank International, NatWest Capital Markets and UBS Ltd.
