Spyglass Inc, Naperville, Illinois publisher of World Wide Web software products for electronic publishing, commerce and collaboration on the Internet, got its initial public offering of 2m shares away at $17 a share, besting the target range of $15 to $16. Proceeds will be used for working capital. Alex Brown & Sons Inc was lead underwriter.
SoftKey International Inc, Cambridge, Massachusetts successor company to WordStar International Inc, got its offer of 2.754m shares, 2.3m of them new, away at $28.875 per share. Proceeds are to be used for acquisitions and strategic alliances, to reducedebt, and for working capital. The underwriters for the issue were Montgomery Securities, Adams, Harkness & Hill Inc, and CS First Boston Corp.
