Anacomp Inc, Atlanta has filed with the US Securities & Exchange Commission for a proposed public offering of $225m in senior secured notes due 2002. The magnetic media company intends to use the proceeds to pay off $201.7m of debt and trade payables. Salomon Brothers Inc will be lead, Smith Barney Inc will be co-manager of the offering.

Equalnet Holding Corp, Houston long-distance telephone service reseller, has filed with the US Securities & Exchange Commission to go public with an initial offer of up to 2.1m shares, 1.81m of them new, at a target price of between $11 and $12 a share. Its strategy is to compete as a reseller, contracting with AT&T Corp, Sprint Communications Co LP and other carriers for capacity. The $18m or so net proceeds will be used to repay almost all debt and fund acquisition of customer accounts or businesses of other resellers. Anything left will be used to expand direct marketing offices in the US and for working capital. The offering will be made via J C Bradford & Co and Johnson Rice & Co.
