Comdisco Inc, Rosemont, Illinois has filed a shelf registration statement with the US Securities & Exchange Commission covering $500m in senior debt. Proceeds will be used for equipment purchases, repayment of short term debt and redemption of repurchase of senior debt, the company said.
Globalstar Telecommunications Ltd, Loral Corp’s proposed satellite portable phone system, got its initial public offering of 10m shares, all new, at $20 a share, significantly shy of the $24 to $26 the company had hoped for, raising $190m or so net towards building and launching its birds. The lead underwriter for the offering was Lehman Brothers.
LSI Logic Corp, Milpitas, California chipmaker got its offer of 2.75m shares away at $52.00 a share to raise some $138m net to be used strengthen its financial position and provide it with working capital for capital expenditure; the issue was managed by Lehman Brothers, Goldman, Sachs & Co, Montgomery Securities and Prudential Securities Inc.
Rockwell International Inc, El Segundo, California raised $500m in a two-part debt deal: the company sold $300m of 7.625% notes due February 17 1998 and $200m of 7.875% notes due February 15 2005. The lead manager for the issue was Morgan Stanley Inc.
