Franco-Italian semiconductor maker SGS-Thomson Microelectronics NV and Mitsubishi Electric Corp intend to sign a joint development and marketing agreement covering dynamic RAMs, non-volatile EPROM and EEPROM – notably Flash memories – says a report in the Nippon Keizai Shimbun; an SGS-Thomson spokeswoman said the company has conversations going on with Mitsubishi, as it does with other companies, but has nothing to announce as yet; at its recent meeting to announce 1992 results, SGS-Thomson president Pasquale Pistorio didn’t exclude an alliance for dynamic RAMs, where SGS-Thomson is not currently a player; any agreements would cover the joint development of the parts.
