SGI PORTING MINESET DATA MINING TOOLS TO NT

By CBR Staff Writer

Silicon Graphics Inc is porting its MineSet data mining and visualization tools to Windows NT. Currently available only on Irix, a new 3.0 version is out in the summer, supporting NT and Irix servers and Windows front ends. MineSet is currently being integrated with the Microstrategy Inc OLAP server that runs on NT. SGI says pricing will be about the same on Irix as on NT. It claims 9,000 Mineset users; 2,000 of them commercial the rest academic. 3.0 includes support for ODBC connections and enables the visualization tools to be converted to ActiveX components. SGI’s own four- and eight-way NT servers are expected in the summer.
