Silicon Graphics Inc says its new Very Large Database backup record shatters the one-terabyte-per-hour barrier. The company says it has been able to enable the faster speed by using a combination of a Silicon Graphics Origin2000 server, Oracle Corp’s Oracle 7, IBM Corp’s Magstar 3590 tape drives, Legato Systems Inc’s IRIX Networker and Spectra Logic Inc’s Alexandria database backup software.
