Google claimed that 4.5m people signed anti-SOPA petition which is available via a link on its homepage.
Search engine company Google asked its users to go through the petition protesting SOPA and PIPA in Congress for approval.
The petition stated that there is absolutely no need to censor the free flow of information across social networks, blogs and search engines which has created millions of jobs.
It asked people to ‘vote NO for PIPA and SOPA’.
Google blacked out its logo completely on the homepage on Wednesday, by using black slashes in protest.
According to the White House Blog, 103,785 people signed petitions through the’ We The People’ website asking the President to protect a free and open Internet.
Representatives and Senators in US are, meanwhile, discussing the bills in respective houses, with voting expected to begin on January 24.
A WordPress spokeswoman said around 25,000 of its blogs had joined the protest by blacking out, while another 12,500 blogs placed a ‘censorship ribbon.’
