Seven-Eleven Japan in distribution talks with Yahoo

Seven-Eleven Japan, the convenience store unit of Seven & I Holdings, is reportedly in talks with Internet major Yahoo Japan over a comprehensive operational tie-up.

By CBR Staff Writer

Through the alliance, Seven-Eleven Japan, the nation’s biggest convenience store chain, would act as a distribution site for products that were purchased on Yahoo Japan’s online auction service.

The two companies will also consider setting up a joint web page and joint sales campaigns to attract more customers to their stores and sites.

Seven-Eleven Japan and Yahoo Japan set up an online shopping venture in 1999 called Seven and Y. The two companies said Seven-Eleven Japan would boost its stake in the JV company by purchasing shares from Yahoo Japan by February and that the venture would become a subsidiary of Seven & I.
