The Redwood City, California-based ISV said the first three Java phones on which its Always-On push email technology can be deployed are the K510 camera phone and the Walkman range of W550 and W810, all from Sony Ericsson.

Seven has both consumer/SMB and corporate offerings in its portfolio, with the consumer/SMB-oriented Always-On series available in Consumer (i.e. Webmail), Personal (self-provisioned for corporate and Webmail) and Workgroup (the same but for 25 users).

Given its initial focus on the US market, Seven has boasted support for Qualcomm’s BREW platform since late 2004, whereas Java (i.e. J2ME) is only being added now. It also supports Microsoft Pocket PC, Microsoft Smartphone 2003, Windows Mobile 5.0, Palm OS and Symbian.

The mobile email market is moving to the mass market phase, which enables consumers to enjoy the benefits of always-on connectivity to their email inboxes, said Paul Hedman, COO of Seven.

By making our mobile email solution compatible with popular Java-based devices, mobile operators can add new services and increase their data revenues, he said, adding that this helps our 100-strong operator base to make push email solutions available to mass markets.
