The card enables user authentication based on public key infrastructure (PKI) technology. It also includes WIM security for WAP-based services.
Setec claims the eSIM 3G is an ideal platform to upgrade from 2G to 3G services. The card supports GSM networks and has an Eeprom memory capacity of 64K bytes. It also supports both ETSI and ISO standards. It is due to be rolled out in Q3 2002.
