The launch of Microsoft Vista and Office 2007 is no exception, with consultancies, outsourcers, and India’s big offshore services vendors all putting their shoulder to the wheel with new Vista-related deployment and management offerings.

Hewlett-Packard, one of Microsoft’s biggest IT services partners, has launched a portfolio of planning, design, implementation, training and support services around Vista. Unisys Corp said that a number of its consultants have undergone pre-release training programs in deploying Vista for clients as part of Microsoft’s Advanced Desktop Deployment Program (ADDP).

India’s third largest IT services vendor Wipro Technologies, is involved in developing application migration and deployment services around Windows Vista, and is offering a unified communication and collaboration solution that involves 2007 Office system and Exchange Server 2007.

Wipro’s smaller peer HCL Technologies has launched what it calls a zero touch Vista desktop deployment service, which uses centralized deployment of the operating system and packaged applications, to automate the deployment process and requires less manual intervention. HCL claims that this service can reduce the cost of rolling out Vista by as much as 40%.

Infrastructure services vendor Getronics claims that its rapid deployment methodology, called RDX, can save large organizations with over 1,000 seats as much as 60% over a standard deployment, according to Steve Denton, a managing consultant at the company.
