Field service platform will allow problem diagnosis by mobile.

By CBR Staff Writer

ServiceMax has teamed up with software company PTC to combine field service management with Internet connected devices.

The companies will to co-develop, market and sell products for managing data generated by the Internet of Things (IoT).

ServiceMax is planning to combine its field service management platform with PTC’s first complete IoT platform, ThingWorx that is expected to redefine field service.

The company said that if a machine connected to an IoT platform faces problem, it will be capable of analysing the data and finding out if the device needs servicing.

ServiceMax will also help its customers through tablet or smartphone, by checking out the diagnostic and performance information from cloud.

ServiceMax CEO Dave Yarnold said: "This is a new era of business for the field service management industry.

"Success won’t come from access to product performance data alone but from the ability to act on that data to deliver flawless service.
