SEQUENT LANDS $250m OEM PACT FROM UNISYS

By CBR Staff Writer

Sequent Computer Systems Inc, Portland, Oregon has won a giant $250m OEM contract from Unisys Corp over five years for its multiprocessor Unix-based transaction processing systems. The only downside of the deal – which follows a contract awarded to Sequent by Unisys as part of the latter’s $10m US Department of Labor contract (CI No 1,029), is that it is a slow burner, worth only $10m to Sequent this year, and is initially for three years, with two optional one-year extensions.
