There was a time when Apple Computer created the impression of an altogether other, better world, and made you believe that that world was really attainable if we all only wanted it hard enough; today most people believe that the company has been so thoroughly Scullied that it is as button-down as IBM – but we have irrefutable evidence that the much loved things don’t have to be the way they’ve always been if we don’t want them to Apple still lives and breathes – in a recent announcement of new releases of the core Mac software, the company declares boldly Customers can upgrade to the new versions free of charge by taking their master copy of the program (the original disk with original label) into any authorized Apple dealer… The upgrade program expires on Sept. 31.
