Semtech, a supplier of analogue and mixed-signal semiconductors, has reported net sales of $116.3m for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2011, an increase of 37% as compared to $85.1m for the same period last fiscal.

For the quarter ended 30 January 2011, the company reported an operating income of $26m, as compared to $5.4m in the same period last year.

Semtech posted a net income of $26.1m and $0.39 EPS, as compared to net income of $9.5m and l$0.15 EPS of the same period last year.

For the fiscal year 2011, the company posted net sales of $455m, an increase of 59% compared to $287m in the previous fiscal year.

The company’s operating income and net income for the FY11 increased to $78.8m and $72.6m, respectively, compared to $31m and $0.96m in the previous fiscal year.

Semtech president and chief executive officer Mohan Maheswaran said the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2011 was yet another record-breaking quarter for the company.

"Our gross profit margin, operating income and diluted earnings per share were the highest in our company’s history and were achieved during a seasonally down revenue quarter," Maheswaran said.

Semtech expects net sales to range between $117m and $121m, and earnings per share to range between $0.31 and $0.34 for the first quarter of fiscal year 2012.
