SEMICONDUCTOR STOCKS DOWN

Semiconductor stocks slumped on Wall Street yesterday, led down by Intel Corp, after Merril Lynch & Co cut its rating on Intel and Motorola Inc to neutral from buy for the intermediate term: Intel was down $5.50 at $58 a share on in mid-morning trading, and Motorola was off $4 at $92.125; Texas Instruments Inc fell $2.625 to $61.50, and Advanced Micro Devices Inc was off 50 cents to $18.125.
