The Sematech semiconductor manufacturing technology consortium last week dedicated its newly completed clean room in Austin, Texas: the 14 members of the consortium have committed to putting up over $100m a year in total, the sum to be matched by the US government; the Sematech facility was completed in a record 32 weeks compared with the normal time of up to two years.
