Anglo-French systems integrator Sema Group Plc has won a contract with UK financial institution Lloyd’s to supply desktop and network support to 1,900 staff. The five-year contract marks a successful foray into the financial desktops sector for the IT services company.
Sema decided to move into the sector towards the end of last year, according to its business development manager Keith Eyre. The Lloyd’s contract is significant, not only in raising awareness of the shift in strategy, but also because it enables Sema to leverage its services into the goldmine of Lloyd’s client list. Sema won the commission under competition from the incumbent, ICL and Computacentre. The twenty strong Sema team will be located on site in Lloyd’s three London offices, and will provide everything from installation through support to decommissioning, said Eyre.
Meantime, last week it won preferred bidder status for a contract for the UK Home Office’s IT modernization to build on an existing contract with the Department of Social Security.
