Sema Wins $200m UK Police Outsourcing Contract

By CBR Staff Writer

Sema Group Plc, the Anglo-French IT services group, has won a 125m pound ($206m) five-year outsourcing contract to provide IT support for London’s police service. The Anglo-French firm will be responsible for desktop support for 14,500 PCs, managed services and the development of the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) IT strategy. More than 200 MPS IT staff will transfer to Sema.

Sema derives almost 20% of its group revenue from public sector and has strong relationships with governments in Sweden and the UK. The Anglo-French firm was selected in April as preferred bidder for a 10-year contract to modernize the UK’s Home Office (CI No 3,640). Sema won the contract, according to sources close to the company, after competition with EDS Corp.
