Seiko-Epson Co claims to have perfected a laptop computer with a full colour liquid crystal diode display, and hopes to have it on the market within a year: the display uses a metal active matrix, as found in colour television sets, is 10 across and puts up full colour in 640 by 400 pixels; it is also the same weight and thickness as Epson’s monochrome LCD, but of course costs rather more – the laptop is expected to cost $7,000.
