Seiko Epson Co is to announce two models of the PC-286 Note F at the end of the month: the machine is compatible with NEC Corp’s top-selling PC-9800 series: the $1,400 machine is built around the NEC V30 8086-compatible microprocessor – making the name a bit of a con, and has a 3.5 floppy disk and an IC card slot drive, with memory options up to 2.6Mb; the display uses a reflective FTN liquid crystal diode display and the company looks to sell 120,000 of the things in the first year; Epson is planning to introduce two 32-bit desktop models at the same time.
