Sega Enterprises Ltd will buy four companies of the UK gaming equipment manufacturer JPM Group from holding company Games Network Ltd of Cardiff. Sega wants the companies so it can establish itself in the European amusement market as a provider of high-tech entertainment equipment, such as arcade video games machines, simulation rides, fairground games and pinball machines. The four companies to be acquired are three from Britain – JPM International Ltd, Ace Coin Equipment Ltd and Crystal Leisure Ltd, and Spanish company Negocia Internacional de Technologia SA. JPM Group revenue for the year to September 1995 totaled $70m and the group has the largest gaming equipment market share in the UK, Sega believes. The total UK market, including exports to continental Europe, is put at between $200m and $300m. Terms of the acquisition were not revealed.
